Having married young, she discontinued studies but not education. She and the books, library and the art galleries were the best firends. But of course, the friends got together only when she got time off domestic chores and rearing the children in a joint family. These well brought up children realised their mother's passion for knowledge and art and they decided to be parents to Renu and sent her to National /Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi to study art. Rochie, her daughter used to make her coffee and sandwiches and pack her off to the evening school. And Karan, the younger one would walk her to the auto stand and see her off. Renu was fortunate that her husband supported her.
